What is Implementation Support?
When technical development of the product starts the interaction designer of the user interface is available to support the implementation team in design decisions and potential implementation alternatives. Sometimes, particularly in agile development, the design may still be on-going when implementation has already started, and the communication is beneficial to both parties.
The devil is in the details
In technical design and implementation a need may arise for compromises in the original design.
It is crucial that the interaction designer is involved here to ensure that the alternative doesn’t have a negative effect on the user experience of the service. Not a lot of the designer’s time needs to be invested here. Evaluation of early versions of the implantation can reveal many different kinds of problems big and small. Support is offered by User Intelligence because we believe it helps to pay attention to all the details.
Deliverables
- Some alternative interactions may be designed, extending the original interaction (and possibly visual) design.
- Sometimes an online issue tracking system is used to document and track problems
