Assignment: Redesign of Nyenrode.nl
Early 2008, Nyenrode Business Universiteit realized that their website needed a thorough redesign. Nyenrode wanted to create a suitable platform for sharing worth-mentioning opinions, events, publications and education. Offering and sharing this information should attract professionals to the site that could also be interested in the degree and executive programs that Nyenrode offers.
Nyenrode decided to use all the different services User Intelligence offers in its complete project methodology.
Methods used: User Research and Interaction Design
It’s difficult to summarize an entire project in just a few lines. The easiest way to give an overview is to list all the activities we performed in the various phases of this project.

Understand phase:
- Conducting interviews with target audiences and Nyenrode stakeholders
- Deducing primary persona’s out of target audience interviews
- Mapping and prioritizing the needs of Nyenrode stakeholders
- Defining focused online strategy & branding
- Analysis of Web traffic of current website
- Inventory of content
Conceive phase:
- Translating findings Understand phase into a high-level Interaction design
- Creating a Visual Design (screenshot drafts)
- Testing the concept Interaction Design by testing a low-fidelity prototype
- Helping Nyenrode in the process of content production and -ownership
- Exploration on Web Analytics opportunities

Design phase:
- Interaction Design for all unique templates
- Anticipating on the MOSS 2007 framework
- Usability Testing of the final Interaction Design (high fidelity prototype)
- Writing the Visual Design style guide for the final screen designs
Develop phase:
- Reviewing milestone products
- Supporting the content production process
Optimize phase:
- Help with implementing Web Analytics tool

Results: Completely redesigned website
The final result of the collaboration between User Intelligence, Nyenrode and the development partner (Winvision) went live in September 2008. To attract more professionals, the new Nyenrode website now contains a special magazine section: ‘Business Topics’. This section allows Nyenrode professionals to claim their own topic which can be filled with publications, RSS feeds, agendas, downloads and more…
Based on the findings of the Understand phase, the website also hosts special landing pages for a number of important target audiences (e.g. students and companies). Also new sections were created for all Knowledge Centers and Institutes.
