Web Analytics and User Experience Design

One of the strengths of the services we offer at User Intelligence is our integrated approach to research, design and optimization. Combining methods can have significant benefits, but don’t just take our word for it, the ‘gurus’ are doing it as well. We’ve been using Web Analytics in projects since 2004, but it’s always nice to see this approach being leveraged by others.

Louis Rosenfeld, one of the first people to define and write about Information Architecture as a discipline, recently gave a presentation on “Marrying Web Analytics and User Experience”.

As the presentation illustrates, it makes absolute sense to combine these disciplines. They’re more than complimentary; when the combination equals more than the sum of the parts.

Rosenfeld has begun to make the case for a more unified practice of web analytics and user experience design and sums it up nicely with “doing one without the other is probably a short-term waste of resources and a long-term recipe for your product or service becoming obsolete.”
