User Intelligence will be hosting the upcoming UX Cocktail Hour in their Amsterdam office. The User Experience Cocktail hour is a semi-regular event where UX professionals meet for informal drinks, lately often preceeded by slightly more formal presentations. These get-togethers have been organized by Peter Boersma since 2001.
On Wednesday, May 6th, Steve Portigal is the guest of honour. His presentation is called "Understanding Cultural Context". Steve will explore the notion of social norms and share a number of examples of observed cultural behaviors. This will illustrate the power and importance of noticing the cultural context in which design research takes place.
The local counterpart is Elio Tagliola, who will present on behalf of GroupM (a.k.a. WPP, one of the largest media companies). Using real-life cases and examples, he will show how integrating user data from different channels (web, call center, newsletter) can help improve the user experience of multichannel processes.
And as always, networking, socializing and gossiping is highly encouraged and there will be plenty of time to do just that! User Intelligence will provide some drinks and small snacks. Afterwards, several of us will probably go for some late-night food; the nearby Nine-Streets-district features winebars, Thai and Italian restaurants, and plenty more.
The registration list (max 40 people) filled up in 15 hours, but if you're interested, please email peter
